Traces of the Wallenroth family in Himmelkron: keystone in the knight's chapel

Agnes von Wallenroth († around July 22, 1409 in Himmelkron ) was abbess of the Himmelkron monastery until 1409 .

Agnes came from the von Wallenroth family . Its epitaph has been preserved in the Himmelkron monastery church. It was recovered from under the church floor during restoration work and placed in the nave of the church. The inscription shows that she died around the day of Mary Magdalene, July 22nd. In addition to sections of the inscription, the buckle can be recognized as a characteristic element of the family coat of arms as a helmet ornament.

Another member of the family was the Siechmeisterin Margaretha von Wallenroth, mentioned in 1538. The altar plate of the knight's chapel contains a built-in epitaph of Wallenroth. In 1965 another tombstone was found in the floor of the chapel. Both stones are dated to around 1300. A painted keystone in the vault of the knight's chapel creates a further reference to the Wallenroth family.
