Agron Tufa

Agron Tufa (* 1967 in Suhadoll ) is an Albanian writer , poet and translator .

Tufa first worked as a miner in his home region of Dibra . In 1989 he won an Albanian literary award for poems that he wrote on the side. After the political change, Tufa was able to study Albanian language and literature at the University of Tirana . He continued his studies in Moscow from the mid-1990s .

Tufa has published magazines for literature and poetry. In addition to writing his own literary and poetic works, he has also translated Russian literature into Albanian. He has received numerous awards. Tufa also taught at the University of Tirana.

Besides, Tufa was one of the directors of the Institute for Studies of Communist Crimes in Tirana, which repeatedly exposed crimes of the communist regime . Leading politicians accused Tufa of covering up fascist machinations. In 2019, he applied for asylum in Switzerland after receiving multiple death threats.
