Agrotis turatii is a butterfly ( moth ) fromthe owl butterfly family (Noctuidae).

The wingspan of the moth is 31 to 36 millimeters. The basic color of the upper side of the forewings is mostly whitish brown, but occasionally also reddish brown. The kidney defects are filled with brownish color and are often indistinct. Ring and tenon flaws are usually missing. Cross and wavy lines are drawn thin and dark brown. The upper side of the hind wing has a white-gray to gray-brown color. The males' antennae, which are long ciliate on both sides, are characteristic .

Similar species

The ash gray earth owl ( Agrotis cinerea ) differs in the male butterflies by the shorter eyelashes of the antennae.

distribution and habitat

The distribution area of Agrotis turatii includes northeastern Spain , southern France and northwestern Italy . The species prefers to colonize open grasslands overgrown with low shrubs at altitudes between 500 and 1500 meters.

Way of life

The moths are nocturnal and fly in one generation from mid-April to early June. Both sexes visit artificial light sources . Little is known about the first stands at the moment. The caterpillars live on low plants.
