Agulla de Pola
Agulla de Pola (dt. Needle of Pola ) or Torre de Cala Salionç (dt. Tower of the bay Salionç ) is a ruin of a watchtower in Catalonia . It is listed as a cultural monument in the Inventari del Patrimoni Arquitectònic Català .
location
Three to four kilometers by road north of Tossa de Mar , a small peninsula separates the bays Calla Pola and Cala Giverola . A hill rises at the top that merges into the Cap de Pola . The tower is located on the top of this hill and offers a wide view to the north and an unobstructed view of the towers of the old town of Tossa.
history
The tower consists of a round tower, which is built on the foundations of an older square tower. A watchtower at this point was first mentioned in a document in 966. But the tower itself is older. At the end of 2006 and in 2007 archaeological excavations were carried out in the area of the tower, during which finds from different centuries were found.
