Ahmad Muhammad Numan ( Arabic أحمد محمد نعمان, DMG Aḥmad Muḥammad Nuʿmān ; * April 21, 1909 in Dhubhan, North Yemen ; † October 4, 1996 in Geneva , Switzerland ) was a Yemeni politician. During his career he held the office of Prime Minister of the Yemeni Arab Republic (Northern Yemen) twice .

Life

Within the republican leadership, Numan, along with Hassan al-Amri and Abdul Rahman al-Iriani, belonged to the moderate or conservative wing, which wanted to achieve the civil war that had been ongoing since 1962 against the supporters of the overthrown Imam (king) through a compromise with moderate royalists and tribal leaders . His first term under the presidency of Abdullah al-Sallal from April 20 to July 6, 1965 was therefore marked by unsuccessful negotiations. A second time he acted as head of government under President Abdul Rahman al-Iriani from May 3 to August 24, 1971. Both times he was replaced by Hassan al-Amri, in whose cabinets Numan served as deputy prime minister or foreign minister.

After al-Iriani's fall in 1974, Ahmad Muhammad Numan emigrated to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Switzerland.
