Ahmed Zaki (actor)

Ahmed Zaki ( Arabic احمد ذكي, also Ahmad Zaky ; * November 18, 1949 in Zagazig ; † March 27, 2005 in the city ​​of October 6 ) was an Egyptian film actor.

Life

Ahmad Zaki was born in Zagazig , around 80 km north of Cairo . In 1967 he first attended the craft school, but then traveled to Cairo and attended drama school there, before switching to the Cairo School for Dramaturgy in 1974 .

He made his first film, Abnaa Elsamt (Children of Silence) , in 1974. In 1980 he appeared in six films, including the film Alexandria ... why? with the director Youssef Chahine, known in Egypt . In total, Ahmad Zaki took part in 60 films.

Many of his films were written by the author Wahid Hamed and contained political messages that addressed the corruption of politicians and police in particular . He also appeared in the well-known television musical series Howa we Heya with actress Souad Houssni and in successful action films that were made in the mid and late 1990s.

Ahmad Zaki was a heavy smoker. Despite intensive medical care at Dar Al Fouad Hospital in the city of October 6 (just outside Cairo), he died of lung cancer shortly after President Hosni Mubarak offered to send him to France for medical treatment at state expense . He was later posthumously the price Merit of Arts awarded for his work in over 50 films.
