Aianteia
The Aianteia (old Gr. Αἰάντεια) were an ancient festival that was celebrated in Athens and Salamis in honor of the Homeric hero Aias Telamonios . It included sacrifice, pageant and competition games , including a torch relay and a rowing regatta. A lounger was also prepared on which an image of the hero was placed. The Attic phyle Aiantis , named after Aias, played a special role in the festival.
