Aimaq , actually Aimaqi ( Persian ايماقى, DMG aimāqī ), is a dialect form of the Persian language and mother tongue of the Aimaks . Aimaq is spoken in central and northwestern Afghanistan and by a minority in eastern Iran near the Afghan border.

It has no official status and, like Tajik, for example, belongs to Persian , which is also called Dari in Afghanistan . There are only slight phonetic differences from other Persian dialects.
