Ainsworth Hot Springs is a small town in southeastern British Columbia ; a few hours drive from Kelowna , Revelstoke or Calgary . The place is known for its warm thermal springs . As a special feature, the stalactite caves , from which the thermal current springs, are directly accessible for bathing visitors. Due to the high temperatures - both of the water and the room air - in the caves, a stay of up to 15 minutes is recommended. The cave is accessible from an outdoor pool. In addition, the thermal bath has a cooler (37 ° C), larger outdoor pool. A medium-sized hotel is directly attached to the thermal baths. Other local accommodation options are two small motels and two bed & breakfast families.
Demographics
The census in 2016 showed a population of 20 inhabitants for the municipality, after the census in 2011 still showed a population of 30 inhabitants for the municipality. Compared to the last census in 2011, the population has again decreased by 33.3% and thus again developed against the provincial average with a population increase in British Columbia of 5.6%. In the census period 2006 to 2011, contrary to the trend in the province, the population in the municipality decreased by 40.0%, while the provincial average increased by 7.0%.
