The largest changes in population (percentage) occurred in the Stikine Region regional district , which had a population increase of 17.6%, and the Regional District of Mount Waddington , which lost 4.1% of its population.

- Dissolution of the Dewdney-Alouette Regional District - split into the Greater Vancouver Regional District ( Maple Ridge , Pitt Folder , Pitt Meadows ) and the new Fraser Valley Regional District (remainder) (December 12, 1995)
- Formation of the Fraser Valley Regional District from parts of the Dewdey-Alouette Regional District as well as from the dissolved Central Fraser Valley and Fraser-Cheam regional districts (December 12, 1995)
- Formation of the regional districts Comox Valley and Strathcona from the dissolved Comox-Strathcona Regional District (February 15, 2008)
