The North Coast Regional District is a district in the Canadian province of British Columbia and was named Skeena-Queen Charlotte Regional District until 2016 . It is 19,775.41 km² and counted 18,133 inhabitants in the 2016 census. In the 2011 census, the population was still 18,784. The district includes an area on the west coast of the mainland and the Haida Gwaii archipelago . The main town is Prince Rupert .
