Airai Bai (correct: Bai ra Rengara Irrai , also: Bai Ra Irrai , German: Airai men's meeting house ) is a traditional meeting house in the Airai municipality area on Babeldaob , the largest island in the island state of Palau . The meeting house stands in the middle of the village on a stone platform that used to serve as a foundation for older Bais . Two stone paths meet at this point. The building has a floor plan of 20.1 m by 6.1 m and reaches a height of 12 m. The facade and the support beams inside are decorated with depictions of legends from Palau. It was built around 1890 and underwent an extensive renovation in the 1970s. The building and location are a spiritual and cultural center for the community.
The building was added to the United States ' National Register of Historic Places in 1976 (as "Bai Ra Irrai") when Palau was part of the United States ' Trust Territories of the Pacific .
