The Aircraft Interiors Expo (also AIX for short ) is an annual three-day trade fair for aircraft cabin interiors at Messe Hamburg . It is part of the Passenger Experience Week , during which other trade fairs and conferences on the subject of passenger transport are held.

The date of the event is usually in the first week of April. Six months later, the trade fair takes place as Aircraft Interiors EXPO ASIA in Singapore and as Aircraft Interiors EXPO AMERICAS in Seattle . The smaller Aircraft Testing Expo will also take place at the same time . This fair is organized by Reed Exhibitions .

The Aircraft Interiors Expo took place for the first time in March 2000 in Cannes, where it was also held the following year. In 2002, due to the proximity to Airbus and Lufthansa Technik, the company moved to Hamburg , where the fair has been taking place ever since.

In 2007, during the Aircraft Interiors Expo, the Crystal Cabin Award was presented for the first time for particularly future-oriented cabin interior concepts.

In 2009 the tenth anniversary of the trade fair was celebrated, at which the Skytrax World Airline Awards were presented this year .

In 2011, 52 concepts were shortlisted for the Crystal Cabin Awards , of which 21 made it to the finals. Prizes were awarded in the categories entertainment and communication , future concepts and design, and comfort and well-being .

From April 10 to April 12, 2018, more than 550 exhibitors (including more than 145 first-time exhibitors) presented themselves at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg.

AIX 2020 , originally planned from March 30 to April 2, 2020 , has been postponed to an initially undisclosed date due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
