The Academy of Fine Arts Kattowitz (Polish: Akademia Sztuk Pięknych w Katowicach ) is an art school founded in 2001. The rector of the art college is Marian Oslislo .

history

A predecessor of today's university was founded in 1936 under the name School for Drawing and Painting (Polish: Szkoła rysunku i malarstwa ). Since 1952 the college became a subdivision of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow . Many famous Polish artists were among the founders and professors of the Katowice School of Art . These included Alexander Krebs, Józef Mroszczak, Rafał Pomorski, Leon Dołżycki, Bogusław Gorecki, Stanisław Rook and Roman Starak . Since September 1st 2001 the Art School has been working independently, which means that it is no longer a subdivision of the Cracow Art School.
