Roman Starak

Roman Starak (* 1929 in Tarnopol , Poland , † 2016 in Katowice ) was a Polish artist.

biography

In 1956 he studied graphics with A. Rak at the Art School in Katowice . In 1992 received the post of professor at this Katowice art college and in 1997 the title of professor of fine arts. Since 1980 he has also headed the relief printing laboratory at the university. He took an active part in all exhibitions of the Association of Polish Visual Artists ZPAP of the Katowice district and in such important exhibitions in Poland as the Biennale in Krakow .

Exhibitions (selection)

He had nine solo exhibitions at home and abroad and was represented in group exhibitions in Czechoslovakia, Austria, Hungary, Uruguay, Russia, Great Britain, Brazil, France, Canada, Italy and Switzerland. His works are in the collections of Polish and foreign museums.

Awards

  • Award of the Minister of Culture and Art in the exhibition on the twentieth anniversary of the communist regime
  • Golden Cross of Merit
  • Individual award from the Minister for Culture and Art in 1971,
  • Team gold medal at the XII International Art Salon in Paris 1971
  • Gold medal for the development of the culture of the Katowice Voivodeship.
