The Association of Polish Visual Artists (Polish: Związek Polskich Artystów Plastyków , ZPAP for short ) is the most important interest group for professional artists and designers in Poland. The association has around 8,500 members who are active in the field of the visual arts : painting, stained glass , sculpture, graphic design, interior and stage design, industrial design, glass, ceramics, new media and restoration of works of art. The association was founded in 1911 in Krakow , and until 1939 the association was run in the form of a trade union . After the Second World War , ZPAP was re-established as an association.

During the period of martial law in Poland , ZPAP supported the independent trade union Solidarność and opposed the military regimes. As a result, the association was suspended by the military authorities in 1982 after refusing to withdraw several statements . ZPAP representatives continued to work underground and in 1989 the association was re-approved. Today ZPAP is divided into 23 regions across the country, and promotes the development of art in Poland and its members through publishing activities such as regional exhibitions.
