Academy for Reading Promotion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Academy for Reading Promotion Lower Saxony (ALF) is supported by the State of Lower Saxony together with the Reading Foundation and is based at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Library (GWLB) in Hanover.

The academy was founded in 2004 and aims to strengthen and further develop reading promotion in Lower Saxony. An important focus is the support of reading networks in which libraries, schools and voluntary initiatives such as reading mentors and reading teachers work together at local and regional level. In addition, further training events for teachers, educators, library staff and volunteer reading promoters are carried out, both in Hanover and across the country in Lower Saxony. Finally, the Academy disseminates ideas for promoting reading through a monthly newsletter, an annual reading calendar and materials that it makes available on its website.

The academy is financed with funds from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Culture and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture .
