Academy for the spoken word

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Academy for Spoken Word in Stuttgart was founded in 1993 by Uta Kutter .

The aim is to promote spoken language and poetry . Language remains the primary form of expression of personality . This priority persists despite the development of modern techniques of non-verbal communication . Because the voice is the direct means of communication.

The academy offers reading and storytelling series, speaking seminars and master classes, “literary excursions ” and literary events in public as well as in private. This includes in particular readings , recitations , musical-literary programs and experimental language games . Through this commitment by the Academy, the culture of free speech - across styles and literary epochs -, dialogue and discussion is conveyed. In addition, there are engagements with special commissioned work for official and non-official occasions.

Since 1996 there has been a cooperation with the State University for Music and Performing Arts, with which the Biennale "International Stuttgart voting days" is organized.

The academy's speaker ensemble usually consists of graduates and students from the Institute for Speech Art and Communication Education at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.
