The Akademische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verlag is a publisher and information service provider from Mannheim specializing in tax and monetary issues . In addition to the classic publishing program with loose-leaf publications , books and brochures, the company is increasingly relying on software products and digital content in the form of e-books and individual articles. These are published on the company's own specialist information portals. The best-known product from the Academic Working Group is the tax software "Tax Saving Declaration".

history

Bernd Christian Grimm and Dieter Weber laid the foundation for the history of the publishing house with the 64-page brochure “The teacher's income tax declaration or annual income tax adjustment”, which was created in 1973 in the “Academic Working Group for Tax Issues” at the University of Mannheim. Three years later, in 1976, the Akademische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verlag emerged as an independent company from the working group for tax issues.

The first publication that appeared under the company name Akademische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verlag was the loose-leaf work “Tax Tips - Handbook of Tax Savings” from 1976.

Numerous publications on tax, monetary and legal topics followed over the years. The subject of law was later assigned to another area of the parent company.

1994 appeared with the income tax program "Steuerertipps PC" the first software of the working group for the preparation of the income tax return. In 1995, the DOS version was followed by a Windows version - to a certain extent, the birth of the "Tax Savings Declaration". In 2012, the tax savings declaration was also offered for the first time for the Apple operating system Mac OS and was therefore available on the most common operating systems. With the Linux distribution Ubuntu 14.04, the control software can also run without restrictions on Linux, reported Spiegel Online in 2014. To do this, the software only needs to be installed via the Windows interface software Wine .

The publisher has been part of the Wolters Kluwer Germany publishing group since mid-1997 . The company, headquartered in Amsterdam (Netherlands), operates worldwide with publishers and software manufacturers in the fields of law, business, tax, education, medicine and science.

Company focus

Information, software and online offers on the topics of taxes and money. These offers are bundled in the brands Tax Tips and Money Tips and distributed on the online portals of the same name, among others. In recent years, the company has increasingly focused on expanding digital offers and online portals. The company's most important brand is "Steuerertipps", under which the tax software TaxSaving Declaration also appears. On the Steuertipps.de portal, consumers receive tips on all aspects of taxes, sorted by life situation and event. The news area, which is maintained and updated by an in-house editorial team, plays a major role. Current judgments and legal decisions from tax law are presented and discussed in understandable language in order to derive advice for the readership.
