history

The AK-8 is a single-seat glider of the FAI standard class in plastic construction. The special thing about the AK-8 is the elliptical leading edge of the wing and the manufacturing process. The forms of the AK-8 were made of cast aluminum in segments. Therefore it was not necessary to make an original positive. The fuselage is a modified fuselage of the Glaser-Dirks DG-600 M of DG Flugzeugbau GmbH. The first flight of the AK-8 took place in 2003. The second first flight after an external landing accident and the construction of the left wing took place in 2009. In 2014 new outer wings and winglets were built to further improve flight characteristics.
