history

Akbank AG is the successor institute of Akbank TAŞ. Germany branch , the former German branch of Akbank TAŞ. headquartered in Istanbul, one of the leading banks in Turkey. The branch received a banking license from the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority in 1998 . Up to and including 2005, the bank provided services for both private and corporate customers. Since 2006, the bank has focused entirely on business with large corporate customers. Along with this reorientation, the former branch of Akbank TAŞ. converted into a German stock corporation.

From May 31, 2007 the shares of the bank were taken over by the Dutch Akbank NV , Amsterdam , which is also a wholly owned subsidiary of the Turkish Akbank TAŞ. was held.

Business activity

The bank is a longstanding member of the German deposit insurance fund . This means that deposits from non-banks up to an amount of EUR 95 million per customer are covered by the fund.
