Akeboshi

Akeboshi ( Japanese ア ケ ボ シ ; * July 1, 1978 in Yokohama as Yoshio Akeboshi ( 明星 嘉 男 , Akeboshi Yoshio )) is a Japanese pop and folk musician . His most famous single, Wind , was used in the first credits of the anime Naruto .

Life

He learned to play the piano at the age of three and later also the guitar. Between the ages of eight and nine he lived in New Zealand , where he came into contact with Western music, especially U2 . At 13 he had his first band. During his high school days he was in a band for classical piano and hardcore punk at the same time . He then studied music at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts . There he was in the club music band Sofaking. His first own work, the mini-album Stoned Town , was released in 2002 and sold more than 100,000 times.

Akeboshi's songs consist mainly of English lyrics, some well-known are Night and Day , Money and Wind . Most of his texts used to be in Japanese. His pieces, e.g. B. With Wind and Kamisama no Shitauchi , he uses the 5/4 rather than the common 4/4 time signature .

  • Akeboshi : Akeboshi's debut album of the same name was released on June 22, 2005 by Epic Records Japan.
    Most of these tracks are taken from the mini-albums, but were recorded with slightly different arrangements. At the end of the last song (after about a minute of silence), this album contains a varied recording of the flute theme from A nine days' wonder as a hidden title .
  • Meet along the way : His second album, Meet along the way , was released on November 7, 2007 on Epic Records Japan.
  • After the rain clouds go : On August 8th, 2014 his third album After the rain clouds was released on RoofTopOwl.
  • Lying to Mom Original Soundtrack (鈴木 家 の 嘘 Original Soundtrack): The soundtrack to the Japanese film of the same name was released on November 16, 2018 on RoofTopOwl .

Work with Takako Matsu

Takako Matsu's single, Toki no Fune (released September 2004) contains two tracks composed by Akeboshi. The title song is a version of A nine days' wonder , although the lyrics of the song have been changed and the melody has some minor modifications. The song was used in the drama RUNAWAY , a remake of the 1993 film The Fugitive . The single also includes a cover version of White Reply .
