Akira Itō ( Japanese 伊藤 彰 , Itō Akira ; born September 19, 1972 in Saitama Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player and coach.

Career

Itō learned to play football in the school team of Bunan High School and the university team of Kokushikan University . He signed his first contract in 1995 with Fujitsu (today: Kawasaki Frontale). The club played in the second highest league in the country, the Japan Football League . In 1999 he was with the club master of the J2 League and rose to the J1 League . In 2000 he reached the final of the J.League Cup . At the end of the 2000 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League. For the club he completed 161 games. In 2002 he moved to league rivals Omiya Ardija . For the club he completed 81 games. In 2004 he moved to league rivals Sagan Tosu . For the club he completed 41 games. In 2005 he moved to league rivals Tokushima Vortis . For the club he completed 82 games. At the end of 2006 he ended his career as a football player.
