Akira Kubota ( Japanese 久保 田 陽 , Kubota Akira ; born April 12, 1973 in Kyoto Prefecture ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Kubota learned to play soccer on the school team at Rakunan High School . He signed his first contract with Gamba Osaka in 1992 . The club played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . For the club he completed six first division games. In 1995 he moved to the second division club Kyoto Purple Sanga . In 1995 he was runner-up with the club in the Japan Football League and rose to the J1 League. In 1997 he moved to Sagawa Express Osaka . At the end of 2001 he ended his career as a football player.
