Akis (river)
Akis ( Greek Ἄκις ), sometimes also called Acis , is a river in Greek mythology that is located near Acireale in Sicily , which was also called Akis (or Acium) in ancient times. It was named after Akis , a son of the shepherd god Pan .
The Akis River was proverbial in ancient times because of its cold. Even if the Fiume di Jaci is mentioned more often today, its former location on Etna can no longer be determined due to various volcanic eruptions with large amounts of lava.
