Akot is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra . The city is located in the Vidarbha region in the Akola district . Akot has Municipal Council status . The city is divided into 31 wards . It had 92,637 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of which 47,733 were men and 44,904 women. Hindus make up the majority of the population with a share of over 54%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 88.48%, well above the national average.
