File trolley

A filing trolley (also: rolling shelf , rolling trolley , shelf trolley ) is a rack- like transport device with rollers and a moving aid for files, books, files and other filing systems. Sometimes the term is also used for smaller rollable office furniture that is equipped with shelves, drawers or holders for register files.

For transport companies and forwarding agents , file trolleys offer easy handling and enormous time, effort and expense savings compared to cardboard boxes or crates as transport packaging . Thanks to their shelf character, the original order of the transported goods can also be maintained. They are a great help and relief for government, office, business and company relocations as well as internal material and document transports.

Types

Common building materials used in rolling stock trolleys for transport are wood , metal and plastic . File trolleys made of plastic are usually inexpensive, but not easy to repair and difficult to dispose of if they are defective. Metal models are often durable, but also costly and inflexible in construction. Wooden filing trolleys, on the other hand, are cheaper and can also be made to measure. As a rule, they consist of wooden board materials such as OSB boards , flat pressed boards or multilayer boards such as multiplex boards or plywood .

File trolleys are available in different widths and heights with one to three shelves and can be loaded on one or both sides. Their capacity can therefore range from approx. 3 to 7.5 running meters of shelving and their load capacity from approx. 350 to 950 kg. Depending on the model, the compartment height can be adjusted individually so that the entire volume can be used effectively. Models in which the intermediate shelves are inserted sloping slightly towards the rear wall also prevent the transported goods from slipping out. The cover can also be constructed in such a way that it offers a secure space for moving boxes with various smaller office items.

With the help of stretch film, belts or elastic straps, the entire load of a trolley can be easily and inexpensively fixed for transport.
