Activist badge of the state-owned enterprises

1950

The activist badge of the state- owned enterprises , whose bearers were also referred to as activists of the two-year plan, was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a badge. It was donated after the founding of the state on October 7, 1949 at an unknown time before the end of 1949 and is considered to be the forerunner of the honorary title of Honored Activist , which was donated the following year. Very few, if any, people have received this badge. Its foundation statutes could not yet be determined. It can be assumed, however, that the award was intended for people who had been involved in building socialism and the GDR as well as in socialist competition in a state-owned company over a longer period of time .

Appearance and wearing style

The round, red enamelled badge with a diameter of 21 mm is grained, outlined in gold and shows a white enamelled medallion in the middle on its front, which is also framed in gold. A bronze-black closed fist can be seen in it, which, coming from below, holds a wrench, which is attached to a horizontally lying pipe. The fist with the end of the wrench breaks through the top right edge of the badge. At the lower edge of the badge is a small, black enamelled, also gold-framed square with the dimensions 20 mm × 4 mm and the two-line inscription: ACTIVIST / VEB . The word VEB is flanked on the left and right by two small golden lines that run the entire length of the writing above, AKTIVIST .

The back consists of a transverse, soldered needle and the manufacturer's abbreviation : PRÄ-WE-MA .
