al-ʿUtbī

Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-ʿUtbī ( Arabic العتبي; died 869 ) from Córdoba in Andalusia was a Maliki scholar. He was a student of the Cordobesian scholars Yaḥyā ibn Yaḥyā al-Laithī and ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Habīb , the author of the Maliki legal work (الواضحة / al-Wāḍiḥa ) and other writings. Al-ʿUtbī made trips to Egypt and Qairawān .

al-ʿUtbīya

He is the author of the work al-mustaḫraǧa , an early compilation of legal questions of Maliki jurisprudence, also known as al-ʿUtbīya after its author . Abū l-Walīd ibn Ruschd wrote a comment on it.
