al-Ahram

Al-Ahram ( Arabic الأهرام, DMG al-ʾAhrām  'the pyramids') is the name of a state-owned Egyptian newspaper that was founded in December 1875.

It is the oldest newspaper in the Arab world and is currently published in Cairo . The first edition appeared in Alexandria on August 5, 1876 , and was published by two Lebanese Maronite Christian brothers, Salim and Bishara Tekla. Al-Ahram publishes two foreign-language versions: the English-language version Al-Ahram Weekly , which was published in 1991 , and the French-language version al-Ahram Hebdo as well as the daily English-language Internet edition Ahram Online .

Al Ahram is also the name of the manufacturer of the Egyptian beer brand Stella .
