Al-Hajar al-Aswad ( Arabic الحجر الأسود, DMG al-Ḥaǧar al-Aswad 'the black stone') is a Syrian city close to the Lebanese border in the south of the country.
Administratively, the city belongs to the national governorate of Rif Dimashq and the district of Darayya . Al-Hajar al-Aswad has a total population of 96,419 (as of 2007), which makes it the thirteenth largest geographical entity in all of Syria.
