al-Muharraq ( Arabic المحرق, DMG al-Muḥarraq ) is the third largest island of Bahrain with 110,964 inhabitants. The 17 km² island north of the main island of Bahrain was the seat of the royal family until 1923.
Bahrain Airport and the US Air Force Base Muharraq Airfield are located on al-Muharraq . Al-Muharraq is connected to the main island of Bahrain by bridges.
