al-Wadi al-Ahmar

The Wadi al-Ahmar (German: Red Valley ) is a valley basin near the coast of the Great Syrte in the Libyan municipality of Surt .

location

It is located 30 km west of an-Nufalija and 90 kilometers east of Sirte . The nearest settlements are Harawa (20 km west of the valley) and Marsa al-Uwajya (25 km east).

history

During the civil war in Libya on March 28, 2011 , fighting broke out in the valley near the coastal road . The site is considered to be mined and a strategically important access to Sirte.
