Al Hayat Media Center

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Al Hayat Media Center ( Arabic مركز الحياة للإعلام, DMG Markaz al-Ḥayāh li-l-Iʿlām  'media center ›life‹') is the media center of the archaic Islamist network of terrorists Islamic State . The center produces professional propaganda films of up to 90 minutes in length, for example an audio message from Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in December 2015. Al Hayat plays a central role in the IS media strategy .

After research by Cicero , the media center was founded in May 2014. The center has only the name in common with the pan-Arabic and western-oriented daily newspaper al-Hayat . In order to appeal to the Western audience, the Al Hayat Media Center produces its material in English, French, Russian and German.

position

Al-Hayat is regarded as the "foreign medium" of the Islamic State. The following media institutions also support IS and address an Arabic-speaking audience more strongly:

  • Al-Furqan Institute for Media Production
  • Al-I'tisam Media Foundation
  • Ajnad Media Foundation

production

The media center exists virtually. Some of the raw material is filmed by IS fighters themselves. Editing and post-production take place in different places in Iraq and Syria, but above all in western countries and in the Arab states. Professional image correction and titling takes place, and some of the films have narrators.

The audio productions are created with effects and professional post-production.

distribution

The distribution of the material is usually stopped quickly by western portals. Less than a day after the November 2015 attacks in Paris, the Al-Hayat Media Center moved its material to the darknet and released a video celebrating the attacks in Paris . A document showing ISIS responsibility for the attacks has been made available in English, Turkish and Russian.

The new homepage in the Darknet is a collection of Al-Hayat Media Center propaganda productions. In addition to anti-Western iconography, battle songs ( naschids ) and poems for mujahideen are provided in various locations.

Productions

  • The Rise of the Khilafah and the Return of the Gold Dinar
  • Flames of War: Fighting Has Just Begun (2015) 60-minute propaganda film in the style of a documentary

In July 2014, Al Hayat released a series of short videos called Mujatweets . In the films, IS fighters visit their wounded comrades in the hospital and encourage them.
