In February 1987, Pilcher completed his first of a total of 17 individual World Cup races at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf , taking 43rd place over 30 km classic and 40th place over 50 km freestyle. The following year he ran at the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary on 46th place over 15 km classic, 39th place over 30 km classic and ninth place with the relay. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 , he achieved 29th place over 15 km classic and 15 km freestyle and ninth place with the relay. Over 50 km freestyle he came in eighth place and got his only World Cup points. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme , he finished 51st place over 50 km freestyle, 37th place over 30 km classic and 16th place over 10 km classic. Together with Alain Masson , Darren Derochie and Yves Bilodeau , he won 11th place in the season. He completed his last international competitions at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . There he ran over 10 km classic and in the subsequent pursuit on the 52nd place and over 30 km classic on the 45th place.
