Alain Gabriel Masson (born March 25, 1961 in Laval ) is a retired Canadian cyclist and cross-country skier .

Career

Masson started as a cyclist at the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles . He finished 14th in the team time trial over 100 km and also took part in the road race, which he ended prematurely. As a cross-country skier, he started in Lahti for the first time in the World Cup in March 1986 and achieved 28th place over 15 km freestyle. This was also his best individual placement in the World Cup. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf , he ran to 35th place over 50 km freestyle and eighth place with the relay. The following year he came in 46th place over 50km freestyle at the Winter Olympics in Calgary . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 he finished 49th over 15 km classic, 38th place over 50 km freestyle and ninth place with the relay and at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1991 in Val di Fiemme he was 39th over 15 km Freestyle, 30th place over 10 km classic and 11th place with the relay. He completed his last international competitions at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . There he ran over 10 km classic and in the subsequent pursuit in each case on the 73rd place and over 30 km classic on the 60th place.

His sister Marie-Andrée was also active as a cross-country skier.
