The Alabama State Route 55 (abbreviated AL 55 ) is a state highway in the US state of Alabama , which runs north-south direction.

The State Route begins on Florida State Road 85 near Florala and ends after 47 miles near McKenzie on US Highway 31 and Alabama State Route 3 .

In the center of Florala, the AL 55 meets US Highway 331 and Alabama State Route 9 and then leaves the city in a north-westerly direction. The road then leads through Lockhart , the Conecuh National Forest and Libertyville . In the southwest of Andalusia , the AL 55 shares a route with US Highway 29 and State Routes 15 and 100 . Between Andalusia and River Falls , it shares the route with US Highway 84 and State Route 12 . Northwest of River Falls, the road passes the town of Red Level , before ending 47 miles near McKenzie at an intersection with US Highway 31 and State Route 3.
