Alabama Woman Blues [ ˌæləˈbæmə ˈwʊmən bluːz ] is a blues title by the American blues musician Leroy Carr .

Original recording

Carr recorded the title with Scrapper Blackwell in Chicago , Illinois on September 9, 1930 . While Carr played the piano and sang the song, Blackwell accompanied him on acoustic guitar . The American pianist played the title in the key of A flat major . Blackwell tuned his guitar in the same key and played the instrument in the D major position on the fretboard while recording . The song was originally released as the B-side (C-6091-B) to the single Four Day Rider (C-6090-A). Since then, the title has appeared on various compilation albums .

Cover versions

John P. Hammond recorded the Alabama Woman Blues on his 1963 debut album. Tim Williams recorded a cover version on his album Blues Full Circle in 1969 . Eric Clapton interpreted the song during his Eric Clapton World Tour 2014 and recorded it for his album I Still Do in 2016.
