The Club Alacranes from Durango , capital of the state of the same , commonly referred to as Alacranes de Durango , is a Mexican football club who played 1999-2011 in the second division of Mexico.

history

The Alacranes Club was founded in 1958. According to the club name (Alacranes means scorpions), its heraldic animal is a scorpion .

By winning both tournaments of the Segunda División in the 1998/99 season (both the Torneo Invierno 1998 and the Torneo Verano 1999 ), the club secured promotion to Mexico's second soccer league, then known as Primera División 'A' the 2009/10 season bears the new name Liga de Ascenso .

For the first time in the Apertura 2002, the club managed to qualify for the championship finals, in which the Alacranes, however, failed in the quarter-finals against the CD Tapatío, a farm team from Chivas Guadalajara .

In the three following seasons in which the Alacranes were able to qualify for the finals, they were always eliminated in the quarter-finals: in the Clausura 2005 against Colima, in the Apertura 2005 against Cruz Azul Oaxaca and in the Apertura 2006 against Cruz Azul Hidalgo . Only in their fifth and so far last participation in the finals in the Clausura 2008 were they able to advance to the semi-finals, where they lost 0-0 and 2-3 against the eventual winner León .
