Cruz Azul Hidalgo is a Mexican football club based in the Ciudad Cooperativa Cruz Azul (formerly Jasso) in the state of Hidalgo . He was the branch team of the CD Cruz Azul , which had long played in the second division and has only been represented in the third-class Segunda División since the 2014/15 season after the club was withdrawn from the cement company in this league.

history

In order to bring professional football back to Jasso, the birthplace of today's capital city club Cruz Azul, a team called Cruz Azul Hidalgo was founded in 1993, which, like the "big brother", is affiliated with the cement company Cemento Cruz Azul .

This team succeeded in 1994/95 the championship of the Segunda División , making them the first sporting climber in the 1994 newly introduced Primera División 'A' .

In the summer of 1997, the club qualified for the first time for the Liguilla , where they lost in the semifinals 1-0 and 0-3 against the later promoted UANL Tigres . In the summer tournaments in 1999 and 2000, the team advanced to the finals, where they lost 1: 1 and 1: 2 against Unión de Curtidores and the following year after two 2: 2 with 2: 4 on penalties against Irapuato .

After a bad season in 2002/03, the group transplanted the team to Oaxaca , where they appeared in the following seasons as Cruz Azul Oaxaca and achieved their greatest success by reaching the finals in the Apertura 2005. For the 2006/07 season, Cemento Cruz Azul brought the team back to the Ciudad Cooperativa and immediately became the best point team in Apertura 2006 together with Superlíder Puebla , who had a few goals better ratio (30:17 compared to 23:15) would have. The two teams later faced each other in the semifinals and won their respective home game 2-0, which means that Puebla qualified for the finals as a better placed team in the preliminary round and returned to the Primera División at the end of the season . In the next seasons Cruz Azul Hidalgo did not get beyond the quarter-finals.
