Alain Geismar

Alain Geismar (born July 17, 1939 in the 16th arrondissement , Paris ) is a French physicist, author and politician with a doctorate .

Life

Alain Geismar was born in Paris into a Jewish family of Alsatian origin. He attended the Lycée Janson de Sailly and was at times a classmate of André Senik , who later became the leader of the Union des étudiants communistes . He studied at the École nationale supérieure des mines de Nancy, received his doctorate there in 1959 and graduated as an engineer civil des Mines , and in 1963 he became an assistant at the Campus de Jussieu in Paris. As assistant representative at the University of Sorbonne and the University of Pierre and Marie Curie , he was a participant in the May riots in Paris on the side of government opponents in 1968 .
