Alain Riou

Alain Riou ( July 28, 1953 - December 6, 2004 ) was a French politician .

Life

Most recently, Riou was chairman of the Greens on the Paris City Council (French: Conseil de Paris ).

He was originally a member of the 20th arrondissement for the Socialists ( PS ) and later for the Greens. In 1995 he was re-elected to the PS in the Paris City Council in the 20th arrondissement. He was counted among the Rocardiens , who see themselves as anti-communist , pro- market trends in the PS.

Riou joined the Greens in 1999 and became its chairman in 2003. As a lawyer , he was an advisor to the Minister of Defense from 1975 to 1982 before continuing his career in the Ministry of Education.
