Alan Withy

Alan J. Withy (born spring 1923 in Lewisham near London ) is a now inactive British film architect .

Live and act

Withy received in the first three years of the war (1939-42) an art education at Goldsmith College and then went through several internships as a technician and draftsman. In 1947 he began his film career as an assistant and draftsman in the legendary ballet film " The Red Shoes ". He stayed in this field until 1956 and was involved in films such as Der Irreserstehliche , Der Freibeuter , But, Herr Doktor ... , Schach dem Teufel , Flammen über Farost , Himmelfahrtskommando , Experimental Machine CB 5 and Precious Burden , but recently also worked as a freelance on the side Designer.

Withy made his debut as a film architect in 1954 as the junior partner of the German cinema veteran Fritz Lück in the German adventure story “ Conchita and the Engineer ”, which was written in Brazil .
