The black-headed canary ( Serinus Alario ) is a Fink from the genus of Girlitze . Its distribution area includes the south and southwest of Africa. In Europe it is occasionally kept as an ornamental bird .
The Alariogirlitz has a contrasting black, white and brown body plumage. It reaches a body length of 11.5 to 12.5 centimeters. The singing is flute and resembles the canary .
Reproduction
The Alariogirlitz is a free breeder . The female lays three to five eggs in a nest lined with grass, plant fibers, animal hair and moss. The incubation period is about 13 days.
Keeping as an ornamental bird
The Alariogirlitz feels most comfortable in an indoor aviary. When kept in cages, this species tends to become obese. It is considered a peaceful bird that can be kept together with other species and other small birds.
