Alba Quintanilla
Alba Quintanilla (* 1944 in Mérida ) is a Venezuelan composer.
Life
From 1954 Alba Quintanilla studied harp , singing, piano , harpsichord and orchestral conducting at the Escuela Superior de Música José Ángel Lamas . A scholarship from the Instituto Nacional de Cultura y de Bellas Artes (INCIBA) and the Ministry of Education enabled her to study at the Warsaw Conservatory for two years.
She then performed as a harpist, pianist and harpsichordist in Caracas. With the Orquestra Sinfónica de Venezuela , she performed her Tres Canciones para Mezzo-Soprano y Orquesta , making her the first woman to conduct this orchestra. In 1967 she received the Premio Nacional de Música Vocal for the Tres Canciones . Quintanilla also taught at various music schools in Caracas and Maracay.
