Life

He came from the Prussian saltworks town of Kösen on the Saale. After attending school, he began a pedagogical training. In January 1862 he became principal of the elementary school in Artern. His research was a. a. the flora and fauna there, especially the Solbee ( Melitturga clavicornis ), which he endeavored to preserve.

The botanist and co-founder of plant ecology, Oscar Drude , described him as an “excellent connoisseur and guardian of halophilic organisms”. He also dealt with the various trees in the gardens and grounds of Artern and the surrounding area.

Albert Bösel was u. a. also active as a member of the Thuringian Botanical Association and the Geographical Society.
