Albert Butz

Albert M. Butz (* 1849 in Switzerland , † 1904 in the USA ) was a Swiss- American inventor and businessman .

Butz came to the USA from Switzerland with his parents in 1857. Since 1880 he worked on various inventions. On April 23, 1886, he founded the Butz Thermo-Electric Regulator Co., Minneapolis . The aim of this company was to market the first functioning temperature controller for furnace firing, for which he received the patent in 1885 . Butz left Minnesota in 1888. The company was later renamed Minneapolis- Honeywell .
