Albert Frank (chemist)
Albert Rudolph Frank (born August 25, 1872 in Staßfurt , † March 18, 1965 in New York City ) was a German chemist and entrepreneur .
life and work
Albert Frank is the son of the chemist Adolph Frank and followed in his father's footsteps. He studied chemistry in Munich and Berlin. Afterwards he practically worked for the chemical works H. & E. Albert in Biebrich. In 1898 he was at the Institute of Technology (Berlin) Charlottenburg Dr. phil. PhD .
From 1899 to 1908 he and Herman Freudenberg ran the Cyanidgesellschaft mbH in Berlin. In 1901, both proposed the newly discovered calcium cyanamide as a fertilizer under the name calcium cyanamide .
He had been involved in the administration of Bayerische nitrogen works AG (BStW) Trostberg since it was founded in 1908, after the death of his father he took over management of the company as a member of the board with Nikodem Caro . He held this until 1938. In that year he had to emigrate to the USA due to the National Socialist race laws .
