Albert Kan-Dapaah

Albert Kan-Dapaah (born March 14, 1953 ) is a Ghanaian politician. In the cabinet of President John Agyekum Kufuor he has been Secretary of Defense since August 2007, replacing Kwame Addo-Kufuor in office .

Kan-Dapaah attended the Acherensua Secondary School between 1964 and 1969 and after graduation moved to the Institute of Professional Studies to study accounting / auditing. In 1975 he enrolled at North East London Polytechnic ( North East London Polytechnic ) and later at Emile Woolf College of Accounting ( Accountancy ).

Career

Since 1978 Kan-Dapaah has held various positions in private companies and public institutions. Between 1978 and 1986 he worked as an auditor ( Audit Senior ) at Pannel Kerr Forster in Monrovia and London, among others. In January 1987, he became the head of accounting at Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT). He became director of accounting for Electricity Company of Ghana in September 1987 and was promoted to director of finance. He held this position for six years.

Kan-Dapaah is a partner in his own company Kwesie, Kan-Dapaah and Baah Co. in Accra , Ghana . He is also a Managing Consultant of Kan-Dapaah and Associates , a small accounting firm. He also taught accounting part-time at the University of Ghana and the Institute of Professional Studies . In 1996 he was elected President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ghana. He also became Vice President of the Association of Accountancy Bodies in West Africa .

Kan-Dapaah was the representative of the Ashanti region on the National Council . He is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a member of the NPP's Finance and Economic Affairs Committee from 1992 to 1996.

Since January 1997 he has been a member of parliament in Ghana for the constituency of Afigya Sekyere West. Under President John Agyekum Kufuor , he was Minister of Communications between 2005 and April 2006. In April 2006 he moved to the Ministry of the Interior as Minister and became Minister of Defense in August 2007.
