Albert Meyer (lawyer)

Albert Meyer (born August 2, 1947 in Berlin ) is a German lawyer and former chairman of the Jewish community in Berlin .

Life

Albert Meyer visited the institute on the Rosenberg in St. Gallen / Switzerland and Haberdashers' Aske's School London Elstree GB. He attended the universities in Wosley Hall Oxford (mathematics) and studied law at the Free University of Berlin and Göttingen. He completed his legal traineeship in North Rhine-Westphalia and Israel. In 1983 he was admitted to the bar in Berlin and appointed notary in 1993 . In 2017 he became a notary a. D. appointed. He is a Master of European and International Business Law (MBL-HSG) from the University of St. Gallen and did his doctorate on the subject of protection against discrimination - duty of equal treatment in private law .

Meyer was elected chairman of the community in January 2004 with the list "KADIMA-Vorwärts", which won 90% of the votes in the elections for the representative assembly of the Jewish community in Berlin. In November 2005 he resigned from office. Between 2004 and 2008 he was a member of the Presidium of the Central Council of Jews in Germany.
